On Performance: Performing with a group of musicians, (whether in front of an audience or not) is vital to any aspiring musician. It develops musical instinct, vocabulary, instrumental proficiency, and most importantly builds confidence.I think that too many young musicians feel intimidated by performance, and do not seek out other musicians. For me, the best learning experience always came out of performance. The more you perform, the more comfortable you will become with yourself and your art- form.Performance with a group should always be supplemented with steady practice and approached with the goal of making the MUSIC not the musician sound the best.
